We have 11 types of entrance examination systems to select students with many abilities and qualities besides basic academic skills. To identify individuals with passion and potential, we use our unique entrance examination systems, including the September admission system, the system for students taking special modules, and the gap year system that evaluates volunteer activities students have engaged in before starting their studies at our university. Providing many application opportunities by arranging an entrance examination schedule independent from other national public universities is another remarkable feature of our institution.

We have two admission intakes a year, in April and September. We accept 175 students for the department; students can choose which course (Global Business, Global Studies, or Global Connectivity) to take as they advance their studies at AIU. Transfer students are accepted under a separate quota.

International Examination
（国際入試）

The International Examination is designed for applicants who have completed a 12-year school education program, either in Japan or abroad. Through document screening and an English interview, we assess whether applicants possess a broad foundation of academic knowledge and meet a certain standard of English proficiency.

Comprehensive Selection Examination
（総合選抜型入試）

The selection of applicants will be comprehensively determined based on submitted application documents such as research reports, the results of an English essay test conducted by the university, and interviews (Japanese and English).

Transfer Admission Examination
（編入学・転入学試験）

Transfer Admission Examination is for those who wish to transfer to the second or third year of study at the University. The examination is administered in conjunction with the spring (April admission) and fall (September admission) admission periods. The applicants will be selected based on a comprehensive judgment based on the submitted documents (language proficiency, statement of reasons for application, letter of recommendation, grades while enrolled at university, etc.), the results of the English essay test, and the interview (Japanese and English).
